This is a pre-recorded monthly virtual workshop series led by Clemson Extension Agent Chris Burtt. The “What to do in Your Charleston Garden” series offers Lowcountry Gardeners practical and timely advice to creating your best garden ever.
What to expect in July:
July means that Summer is in full swing. And with that care and water are needed for the plants in the garden. We will discuss the needs of each group of plants from annuals and vegetables to turf and shrubs. There is still planting to be done and seeds to be started for the fall. Also planting pumpkins for Halloween needs to be done this month. With the heat, there will be issues that arise and need to be scouted for and we will discuss the common issues in the garden at this time. We will also talk about Ratooning vegetables and certain perennials, which is cutting them back to get another flush of growth before the first frost. We will also discuss fertilizing needs of the garden as well as general care.
