What to do in Your Charleston Garden...in September

This is a pre-recorded monthly virtual workshop series led by Clemson Extension Agent Chris Burtt. The “What to do in Your Charleston Garden” series offers Lowcountry Gardeners practical and timely advice to creating your best garden ever.

What to expect in September:

Fall is almost here!! Fall is the prime time to plant many different plants in the garden thanks to our mild winter. Now is the time to be planning and planting for the fall. While it is still early for cool-season annuals, various herbs and vegetables can be planted now. Many perennials should be planted now but also prepare areas for trees and shrubs to be planted next month. Certain shrubs such as Roses can be planted now. I will also cover care and winterizing of various annuals, perennials and turf. Some pruning can be done now as well if needed.
