  • NEW VENUE: MUSC CAMPUS - Drug DiscoveryBuilding -Auditorium 70 President Street Charleston, SC 29425 (map)

The ACE Basin, located in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, is a remarkable and ecologically diverse region. It encompasses a vast area of protected marshes, tidal creeks, rivers, and hardwood forests. The term “ACE” is an acronym derived from the Ashepoo, Combahee, and Edisto Rivers, which are central to the basin’s ecosystem.

This area is renowned for its rich biodiversity, serving as a crucial habitat for various wildlife species, including numerous birds, fish and mammals. It is a vital stopping point for migratory birds along the Atlantic Flyway and supports unique ecosystems like salt marshes, tidal flats, and bottomland hardwood forests. Perhaps one of the best places to see the pristine natural beauty of the LowCountry of South Carolina, this area is also a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, boaters, fishermen and women and birdwatchers.

Join us for an informative lecture by Travis Folk of Folk Land Management - Woodland and Wildlife Consultants as he takes us on a visual journey through the historical lands that define the LowCountry. Learn of his significant conservation efforts that will protect this invaluable environment for future generations to enjoy.
