How Ya Pruning?
An interactive, off-site  workshop

Spend the morning at the home of celebrated Charleston garden designer David Stickel as he discusses and demonstrates professional pruning techniques with focus on the proper cut, locations and timing. He will discuss plant response to pruning of several species common to Charleston with a brief discussion on Japanese style pruning & training. There will also be a full array of tools and equipment on hand to try on your own!

Floral Jewelry Design
A hands on jewelry design workshop with Selma and Stacy Andrews

Learn something new! Design and create your own lightweight, unique and eye-catching polymer clay beads using a millifiori technique (“thousand flowers”), a Venetian glass-working technique combining thin rods of different colors which are folded, sliced and layered in a collage to form an intricate pattern art work.  This is a beginner class to introduce working techniques with clay including conditioning, mixing, folding and basic construction of “canes”.

Polymer clay and basic tools will be provided.  Beads will need to be baked (will be done after the workshop) and finished then can be strung or mounted as jewelry or  art!

Spring & Summer Veggie Garden Planning

CHS offers a peek at the hottest trends of the year

Grower and plant expert Chris Chaney returns to our workshop series once again, bringing a wonderful collection of his plants including some of 2017’s most anticipated up and coming trends.  Impress your gardening friends by being a true trend-setter and snatch up the latest and greatest. All plants will be available for purchase (check and cash only).

Bottoms up with our favorite mixologist Sarah Martin

That’s right, she’s back! The hilarious and talented Sarah Martin returns with our always entertaining and quirky cocktail workshop. Join us as we sample Sarah’s quick and easy recipes for infusing savory herbs into your spring cocktails. As always, Sarah’s quick wit and charm will be on full display as she shares her own hilarious adventures in the world of mixology! Light snacks provided.

This class sells quickly and is only available for 21 years and up.

The CHS Educational Classroom is located in our offices at 46 Windermere Blvd. in the South Windermere Shopping Center. Turning into the shopping center from Folly Road follow S. Windermere Blvd down along the strip of shops where Starbucks is located. Our offices are the very last business on the right with a green awning. We are located across from the West Ashley Library at S. Windermere.

There is limited parking in front of our office but we recommend parking in the large lot in front of the library. Please refrain from parking in the back of the building as it is saved for employees of the shopping center.

To ensure our classes start on time and out of respect  for everyone in attendance, we ask that you make every effort to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance of the scheduled class time.

Class Substitution Clause:
If you cannot attend the class you signed up for, please let us know in advance and we will try to accommodate you into another class of your choice. You cannot substitute a class for another class without advance notice to the office at 843.579.9922 or by email at If you are not on the class roster list upon arrival, you will be expected to pay before entering the class.

If you suddenly are unable to attend please call our offices at 843.579.9922 ahead of the scheduled class so we can plan accordingly. Per our policy, class fees are only refundable with at least a 24 hour notice.
