Ikebana: The Art of Japanese Floral Arrangement

This specialty workshop is designed to cover the basics of orchid love and care for beginners as well as long time growers. Arlene will demonstrate methods to foster these long-lasting flowering plants including how to mount orchids, greenhouse care and other techniques to facilitate blooming and longevity. *attendees are welcome to bring in a struggling orchid for advice!

Up and Coming Plants for Fall 2017
with Chris Cheney; owner of Piedmont Iris Farm
Join longtime CHS favorite Chris Cheney as he shares his knowledge as a grower of Japanese Maples, how to grow exciting new paw paw trees and other miscellaneous up and coming plants for the fall season. Chris will have a variety of plants to sell after the workshop so bring your garden cart or other carry away. Cash or check only!


The CHS Educational Classroom is located in our offices at 46 Windermere Blvd. in the South Windermere Shopping Center. Turning into the shopping center from Folly Road follow S. Windermere Blvd down along the strip of shops where Starbucks is located. Our offices are the very last business on the right with a green awning. We are located across from the West Ashley Library at S. Windermere.

There is limited parking in front of our office but we recommend parking in the large lot in front of the library. Please refrain from parking in the back of the building as it is saved for employees of the shopping center.

To ensure our classes start on time and out of respect  for everyone in attendance, we ask that you make every effort to arrive at least 10 minutes in advance of the scheduled class time.

Class Substitution Clause:
If you cannot attend the class you signed up for, please let us know in advance and we will try to accommodate you into another class of your choice. You cannot substitute a class for another class without advance notice to the office at 843.579.9922 or by email at If you are not on the class roster list upon arrival, you will be expected to pay before entering the class.

If you suddenly are unable to attend please call our offices at 843.579.9922 ahead of the scheduled class so we can plan accordingly. Per our policy, class fees are only refundable with at least a 24 hour notice.
