Alpinia Midnight, Midnight Ginger

‘Midnight Black’ Beautiful reddish brown to almost black slender leaves with a shiny lacquered finish atop upright stems. Basal cones produce yellow flowers turning pink with age. Likes part sun to filtered shade, moist, warmth. Grows 2-5′ tall and spreads 1-2′, hardy zone 9-10. The plants may be trimmed to fit in box for shipping. In winter, they may be dormant potted rhizomes. Leaves have the fragrance of ginger.
