Hearty Plantain (Musa ‘Dwarf Puerto Rican’) – 5 gallon

This cultivar is a dwarf plantain. The heads of the fruit are a little larger than the original Plantain bearing seven to nine hands of fruit. The shorter trunks of this dwarf plantain is thicker than taller ones and because of this it’ is more resistant to the wind and rarely falls over from the weight of its own fruit. It is widely grown in Puerto Rico for its taste and cooking qualities. The majority of plantains grow tall, ‘Dwarf Puerto Rican’ is an exception. Plant in full to part sun. Give good drainage and consistent water. USDA zones 8-11 in cold hardiness.
