Join Peachey Trudell of One Wild Acre, a Certified American Grown microfarm in Charleston to learn all about growing & creating beautiful flower arrangements in your own yard.
In this workshop, participants will learn the process of how to plan and harvest from a backyard floral cutting garden. We will focus on the best varieties to grow successfully in our southern climate for long stems that last in a vase. Topics will include seasonal cut flowers, seed sourcing, plant spacing, harvest techniques, and the basics of the home floral design. This class is intended for home gardeners, floral enthusiasts, and those who appreciate flower arranging for joy.
Peachey will provide cut flowers from her own garden and participants will create their own arrangements to take home!
About Peachey Trudell & One Wild Acre
In the summer of 2017, our family moved into a 1940s home situated on a little more than an acre in a neighborhood just minutes from downtown Charleston. We began working at once to untangle, nurture and enhance the soil and land, which is an ongoing process. As we cultivate a sense of place for our family and flower farm business, we are steadily planting an assortment of flowering shrubs and trees, herbaceous perennials, edibles, favorite annuals, greenery, native plants and heirloom varieties.
One Wild Acre grows a cutting garden for creatives. We offer loose-stem, seasonal market bunches, CSA shares and Design-It-Yourself wedding and event options so that we may pass along the unique styling, meditative arranging, sensory experiences and freedom of expression along to you.
We also collaborate with artisans and small businesses to provide floral elements and ingredients for their craft. These relationships support local makers in our community and celebrate the endless possibilities of flowers. The Slow Flowers Movement encourages a connection to and the purchase of locally grown flowers.
