Cutting Class with Neltie

Members Only Cutting Class with Neltie Linker
July 20, 22 & 23rd (three options)
8:30am – 10:30am
at the home garden of CHS Hort member Neltie Linker

Join CHS Hort for a one-of-a-kind garden experience as we venture into the iconic garden of longtime member and garden guru Neltie Linker for a plant gathering event like no other.

On three summer mornings during the week of July 20th a small group of lucky attendees will be able to explore Neltie’s vast and abundant West Ashley garden (located in The Crescent across from our West Ashley offices) to take cuttings and dig up a variety of unique and hard to find plants. Each morning will be open to six CHS Hort members for a two hour time period with the opportunity to not only access Neltie’s amazing garden but also learn from the source herself. Neltie will offer one-on-one information on air-layering, grafting, proper cutting techniques and even how to propagate your cuttings from her garden.

Attendees will also be able to enjoy light bites and refreshing beverages on Neltie’s front porch which oversees her beautiful garden.

Neltie has been a member of CHS Hort since its founding days in the early 2000s and volunteered as part of the first Members Favorite sale at the Charleston Garden Festival which eventually evolved into Plantasia. She has organized and run Members Favorite ever since. Her garden features an award-winning red oak tree from the Charleston Trees committee which is one of the largest of its specimen in the Charleston area. Neltie is particularly known for her skills in grafting and propagating camellias and has been an avid gardener in the Lowcountry for over 60 years.
